At Rosa Fund, we've worked alongside TIME'S UP UK to give out grants the length and breadth of the UK to women's organisations all working with women in need of legal support and to tackle the root causes of sexual harassment and abuse across communities and workplaces.
What have we achieved over the last two years?
We have enabled women’s organisations from across the UK to form a movement and talk with a collective voice. Funding has kick-started specialised services for women and girls across the UK, provided training to workers who take calls from victims, launched legal advice lines, and forged cross-nation networks to help end the culture of abuse and impunity.
Meaningful change can’t be achieved overnight and the scale of the issues at the grassroots level cannot be underestimated. The conviction of Harvey Weinstein in New York for rape has proven how collective action can start to slowly shift culture. These allegations were at the centre of the #MeToo movement that inspired women to speak out about their experiences of harassment and abuse, which in turn inspired the need for the Justice and Equality Fund.
If 2018 was a year of reckoning and 2019 was a year of action, in 2020 let’s shift the dial further. Now we’ve seen what we can achieve through collective action, let’s push harder for change and stand in solidarity with all women, so that no one voice is more powerful than another.
