For 21 years, my mother, Lachris Watson, has been lying in a hospital bed after what was reported as a “suicide attempt” while she was incarcerated in California. My sister and I were only 5 and 9 when our lives changed forever, and for years we have lived with unanswered questions, missing records, and a story that has never fully made sense.

I do not believe my mother’s story was handled the way it should have been, and I am now fighting to uncover the truth. I am working to obtain prison records, hospital records, conservatorship and probate documents, legal representation, and answers about who has been making decisions over my mother’s life and finances for the last 21 years.

This journey requires travel to California, court filings, attorney fees, investigation costs, and time away from my own work as a mother and business owner. None of this is cheap, but I refuse to stop fighting for her.
