Whilst walking across the 3 Yorkshire Peaks, tragically on the 3rd of May this year one of our good friends Tim Caulfield passed away.
After moving to Healing from Whitley Bay, Tim was well known throughout the village of Healing especially within the Healing Hotspurs Football Club. He was an assistant coach with the 2nd girls football team that was set up within the club back in 2006. Tim was also a regular goalkeeper for the Healing Hotspurs Mens team. Being a school teacher Tim also spent a lot of time with his pupils developing grass routes football within the schools and communities he worked with.
When Tim and his wife Kate became proud parents to Lola and Francis it was obvious that with their parents sporting background, the girls were destined to follow in their footsteps. This became reality with Francis now playing for Grimsby Borough u13's and Lola playing for Healing Hotspurs u14's.
The reason of this page is twofold. Firstly, to carry on Tim's legacy by trying to raise money for Healing Hotspurs Football Club to create an adequate changing facility for home and away teams to use. Secondly, to donate 50% of the funds raised to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance who were unfortunately unable to resuscitate Tim on that tragic day of his passing.
So, to try and raise funds for both the football club and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance myself and my assistant coach Nick of Healing United Ladies are carrying out a charity walk.
We will be starting from Tim's beloved Newcastle United football ground St James Park on Wednesday 17th September, and walking 133 miles returning to Healing Legion by the evening of Saturday 20th September.
Our planned walk:
Day 1 - Newcastle to Stockton on Tees - 33 miles
Day 2 - Stockton on Tees through the Yorkshire Moors to Kirkbymoorside - 29 miles
Day 3 - Kirkbymoorside to Beverly - 40 miles
Day 4 - Beverly to Healing Legion - 30 miles
Our return date of Saturday 20th September is also the date of the annual Healing Legion Oktoberfest. It would be great to see you there to show your support and even better if you would be kind enough to donate.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
