Hybrid needs your help!


Most of the time, working in New York as freelance circus artists is an exciting career, full of creation, collaboration, and intensive physical training.


Other times, the heat shuts off and progress has to stop.


This is the current situation at Hybrid Movement Company Creative Lab. The heat was shut down without warning and interminably, and injuries are quick to strike if an artist cannot stay warm to rehearse. We put down considerable finances to pursue alternative heat when it became obvious that it would not be fixed in a timely manner. We have not had heat since early February and are thousands of dollars in the negative from attempting to fix the problem ourselves. Those costs have doubled with legal help. 


The lab is a training space for working performers in the area and also the home of Hybrid Movement Company*. You likely have seen us all around New York at House of Yes, Theater for the New City, Lincoln Center, the Joyce, the Box, City Center, Club Cumming, Sony MusicHall, Radiocity Music Hall, and more. We tour nationally and internationally. Shows that have recently been performed at the Lab (also a performance venue) include Fool of Potential, Oroboros, and DelicARTessen. Among the artists in residence (listed below) we have an impressive amalgamation of knowledge ranging from aerial, breaking, and concert dance to contortion, hand balancing, and martial arts. When you see a performance by Hybrid Movement Company, you are seeing all of those movement backgrounds (and more) combined into genuinely unique art. 


All of that is to say we have a lot coming up! With Bonaroo, various variety shows, and a regional tour, we need to prepare. If we can raise some money, we will be able to make up our financial deficit and continue our work. Please help us by donating; anything helps. If you can't make a donation, no worries. For a donation of $15 or more, you are invited to our variety show on Tuesday April 23th and Tuesday April  30th. The show will take place at 8:00pm at the Hybrid Movement Creative Lab (338 Moffat St, Unit D) in Brooklyn.
