¡Juntxs Somos Fuertes!
After more than a year of promises to open a path to citizenship for more than 11 million undocumented immigrants, Congress and President Biden have not advanced this policy that is so essential for our communities. Because of this lack of action, and because of the role that Senator Joe Manchin has played in derailing the efforts towards immigration reform, immigrant leaders from across the country are organizing the Caravan of Hope, and action that will begin on April 29th in front of the offices of Senator Joe Manchin in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and will culminate by joining the national march in Washington, D.C. on May 1st. As Southern groups, we are going to West Virginia to support and encourage our immigrant sisters and brothers there who are beginning to organize, because we know from our own experience how important it is to count on the support of other groups who have organized in similar circumstances. And we are heading to Washington because we want to make clear that immigrant communities in the South are leading the struggle and we will not give up until all immigrants can live with full rights and dignity.
The Southeast Immigrant Rights Network is organizing a Southern delegation to join the Caravan of Hope through our collective effort Together We Are Strong. We have 40 people from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas signed up for the delegation! This effort is being led by grassroots groups with very limited funds. We are joining in a collective effort to raise funds for this event, and we need your support. Please help us continue to lift up our voices for Justice and Dignity. Together We Are Strong!
