Juniper Humphrey's on-going medical expenses

Donation protected
Juniper recently got her official Cerebral Palsy diagnosis.  She was accepted into the 4 Paws 4 Ability service dog program.  Kaylee and Drew are so excited to give her this opportunity.

There has been an over-whelming support to raise funds for a service dog. This dog will be trained in mobility assistance/balance, behavior disruption, stand and brace, bark alert/falling.

On top of the service dog costs, there will be additional expenses incurred by the Humphrey family. These include travel expenses to Ohio and 2 weeks in stay accommodations so they can train alongside of the new puppy.

This GoFundMe will be in support of the added service dog expenses as well as her on-going therapies she has had since birth.  June has weekly physical, speech and occupational therapy at Child Service and Early Access/AEA services. Other items that fall outside of insurance include shoe inserts, helmet, arm immobilizers, braces and she will be undergoing upcoming eye surgery.

The following excerpt was taken from Kaylee's post on Juniper’s Story:

Juniper was born not breathing. 15 hours after induction, we finally met her. She was limp and purple and her head was evidence that she was in the birth canal for much too long. It was a physical reminder that her brain had gone without oxygen.
She suffered an “HIE event”, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. (Fancy talk for lack of oxygen to the brain) We still don’t know how long she was slowly suffocating.
She was whisked away and worked on. Her APGAR score was 0, meaning her “Appearance” was blue, her “Pulse” was absent, her “Grimace/reflex” irritability was floppy, her “Activity/muscle” tone was absent, and her “Respiration” was absent. They got her pulse back.
They took her to the NICU where she started having seizures. Junie was placed on a cooling mat and sedated. In the following hours and days we were told she had no brain activity, and discussions about quality of life vs. letting go were had. Luckily, upon warming up June’s follow-up EEG showed brain activity.

Over the next few weeks, June started opening her eyes, breathing on her, and was super great at munching down milk after she got rid of that pesky OG/NG tube. The doctors and nurses were all very surprised by her. They call her a miracle baby. We got to come home on April 29th tube free and only on a precautionary dose of Keppra.

Fast forward to now, June is now walking, dancing and beating up on her sister, Florence. She is smart and funny, and opinionated. Despite the fact that she can’t verbalize her thoughts, she will let you know what she wants one way or another.

Thank you so much for your consideration and support.
