Build Protective Barn 4 Ahimsa Cows

Donation protected
Aloha! Jungali Gardens is a permaculture community situated on 20 acres on the Big Island of Hawaii. We are a small, but actively expanding and dedicated group of young permaculturists creating a sustainable, organic homestead-collective. In our quest for food security we are both learning the age-old methods and pioneering our own “jungali” agricultural innovations . We especially give attention to the Vedic principles of farming (and spirituality), necessitating cow management and protection. Properly utilized, cows are miracle permaculture creatures, delivering huge amounts of fertilizer and milk. The Vedic literature actually refers to cows as one of our sacred mothers. Knowing this, Jungali Gardens has lovingly cared for our cow Bhumi for over a year, but a recent escape to a neighboring pasture left her pregnant and unfortunately her current shelter is NOT suitable for a newborn calf, especially during climactic weather.

We are humbly requesting kind souls to please offer a donation towards the construction of a modest, but effective new Ahimsa barn. We have a carpenter willing to lead the project and work for reduced wage as well as multiple volunteers to cover the labor involved. Please help us in our endeavor to protect Bhumi and provide a safe shelter for her future calf. All of the funds donated will be used to buy materials, including lumber, roofing, screens, a small cement slab, and all types of fasteners. We also hope to add a small solar system for lighting and water pumps. Any amount is gladly appreciated!
