Story:

Hi, I’m Simone, and I’m fundraising for my 12-year-old son, Julian. He lives with Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects his facial structure, heart, development, and overall growth.

Julian has already been through two successful surgeries to manage complications related to his condition. He now needs a third — an important orthodontic procedure to address jaw alignment issues, including an overjet and deep bite.

While the procedure itself is managed by an orthodontist, the hospital component is billed separately and involves a surgeon, anesthetist, and theatre fees. These are not covered by private health insurance due to the timing, nor are there government rebates available.

I’ve recently experienced a change in employment and, with growing medical costs and a car that’s nearing the end of its life, meeting these expenses has become increasingly difficult. Reaching out for help isn’t something I do lightly, but ensuring Julian receives the care he needs is my priority.
