Julia and fam need our help!

UPDATE from JULIA: MAY 12 2023

Thank you to my amazing community!
We are overwhelmed with gratitude by all the love and support you all have poured into our family. My kids are so excited to get a break from doing farm chores every day and Tucker has been so relieved and touched by all the meals by those off you who have signed up for the MealTrain.

I just met with the podiatrist for my second monthly appointment and he said that healing is evident. But reminded me most sternly that it is very very slow with a crush injury that is affecting my bone, tendon, nerve, and soft tissue. When I asked for another MRI to see the level of swelling in my bone marrow, he said he would not order another for 6 months. That is the first timeline I've been given. I'm not accepting that as a given. I'm doing accupuncture weekly and rubbing in lots of good oils many times a day. I want to get back out to my farm and my garden. I miss them and they miss me!

So, we are increasing the goal amount to 10k in order to get help all the way through this period because we now understand it likely to be way longer than we hoped. As of what has been gifted now we will be able to get a few hours once a week in house and are grateful for all of you who do some dishes and sweep when you drop off a meal. And we can get farm chores covered 3 days a week for almost 3 months.

❤️If you have given and know others that could please consider sharing this.
❤️If you can sign up to bring a meal or send a meal, this has been so wonderful and helps us so much!
❤️If you are a healer and could donate some bodywork, my whole body is getting wonky from mostly sitting with my foot elevated.
❤️If you have COMFREY in your garden and could bring me whole plants to make leaf and root poultice for my foot this would aid healing so much. I do have lots of crowns but I end up digging most of them up each year to give to friends or animals in need and thus my roots are small.

Please help our beloved hardworking homesteading family~~~~

If you know Julia Green the Barnyard Midwife you know that she has created a vibrant and fulfilling life.... one that also requires a thousand+ daily tasks on her farm and household.

On March 1st a huge hunk of Green sycamore fell off her tailgate while she was unloading a whole truckload of wood (by herself). This 200lbs piece of wood fell squarely on the top of her left foot.

She's been on crutches for almost 8 weeks and will likely be on them for at least 6 more. She is not supposed to weight bear at all until the swelling INSIDE her bone (and thus her pain) goes down. Yes. Swelling IN the bone.

She has a significant bone bruise with extensive edema of the bone marrow in her first metatarsal on her left foot and some minor tears of anterior and posterior tibial tendon at the insertion point. Apparently, bone bruises are notorious for taking a long time to heal and are very painful. This is a crush injury to the foot and so even more difficult and painful than most other bone bruises as there are so many nerves in the foot.

While she's been laid up, her children have been doing all the farm chores and her husband Tucker has been cooking dinner after working construction for 8 hours every day.

Everyone is doing all that they can to stay afloat, but they're tired and in need of support. This has been hard on the whole family. They've all been amazingly resilient and steadfast and everyone is doing well emotionally. But the pace and extra workload are taking their toll on everyone's energy levels after 6+ weeks of double time.

Julia FINALLY agreed to let me write to our community at large and ask for contributions. Close friends have been coming by to help with dishes, laundry and chores, but it's clear they need more help.

Julia is usually so busy tasking every day so this has been an opportunity for her to deeply rest and learn to do less. And this sustained surrender is a spiritual journey. She is getting visits from longtime friends she hasn't really dropped in with in a while so we are praising the silver linings.

Your contribution to this fund will assist them so they can hire some help on the farm and around the house. The bare minimum is getting done and everyone is doing so much extra. Sometimes animals are getting fed after school and soccer and dinner when the family gets home.

Friends and family are coming by to lend an hour here and there but this homestead is a working farm and a family of 5 so there is ALWAYS so many dishes and loads of laundry to do.

Giving to this fund will allow Julia to hire someone on her farm a few days a week so everything can get done well and the kids can get a break. It will allow her to hire someone once a week in the house to get all the dishes done and mop the floor and get ahead of the laundry.

There is also a meal train if you would like to make a meal to drop off and can visit with Julia and drop some dishes or if you're not nearby send a meal from a local restaurant they like. Here’s the link for the mealtrain if you prefer to give that way! https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/9v98o5?mibextid=q5o4bk

Anyone who knows this sweet family knows they are such a beautiful, loving and generous part of our community. Please consider making a donation to help them get back on their feet.

Thank you!
