Support Jude & Julia!!

Dear friends and family, I’m writing once again asking for your support.

For 13 years, Julia’s mother and I have shared equal custody and split parenting costs evenly. In April of last year, Julia’s mother sued me for full custody of Julia. There was no basis for this lawsuit, nevertheless, I have had to prove that time and time again in court. In August last year, a court appointed representative for Julia determined that custody should remain 50/50. That recommendation has not changed.

In October of last year, I started a GoFundMe to help cover legal fees through the end of the case, which I had been told would result in the filing of a finalized custody agreement sometime in December of last year. Thanks to my friends and family, I was able to raise $5000 at that time and fund my legal fees through January of this year. I’m eternally grateful for the support.

So why am I writing you again in May 2025 when this should have been over in December?

In the months since January, Julia’s mother and her attorney have been slowing the legal process and asking for extensions and submitting last minute minor changes to the custody agreement, which provides for 50/50 custody. Each time this happens, there are additional court dates resulting in even more monthly legal fees. This is a strategy to exhaust me financially and force me into submission. It will not work.

I have been paying around $1200 each month to cover legal fees for the past 13 months. I’ve done everything I can to earn extra money to support myself through this case. This additional monthly cost is enough to really damage me financially.

What now?

My plan is to finish what was started and finalize this custody agreement no matter what it takes. I will fight this case until it is resolved in a way that suits Julia’s best interests.
