Fight for Freddie

Hi, my name is Pat McMahon and I’m a devoted and loving father of an almost 5 year old son. 

I am seeking help and support in order to see him, as it has been a long and challenging 4 & 1/2 years to get any quality time with him.

I have been growing my beard for almost as long as I have been going through this extremely hard time in my life.

If I can reach a good target, the lads at Fat Nancy barbers in Grovedale will help me shave off my beard. 

Below is a little insight as to what I have been through over the last few years. 

For those of you who know me, I am a hard working man with a tremendous amount of family and friends who I would do anything for.

I always put people before myself and wear my heart on my sleeve.

Family means everything to me, having to do everything I possibly can to see my son has been a very challenging and stressful thing to go through.

I have and ALWAYS will put my boy before anything else.

I absolutely cherish my time with him and always spend our time together visiting family and friends.

We go watch our local sporting clubs on our weekends together and surround ourselves with only the best people.

I have been fortunate enough to take him to a game of AFL and a game of cricket in Melbourne, where we had the best time and is something that all father who grew up playing sport cherish so much. For his most recent birthday, I was able to take him to the Melbourne Aquarium and Melbourne Zoo.

These are some of the things we love to do for him as a family and miss so much.

Things were looking positive 6 months ago with the introduction of a couple of overnights for the first time since splitting with my ex when he was a very young child.

It was one of the best feelings in the world and I felt like I had finally accomplished something I have fought for, for so long.

I have never asked for anything unreasonable in my requests in order to see him and extend time. 

Unfortunately, it seems as though it doesn’t matter what I say or do, they are unwilling to let go and allow him to spend more time with me.

Over the last 4 years, through the help of family, we have already spent thousands in order for me to continue to see him. 

I have been through mediation a couple of times, but unfortunately to no success. 

After the overnights commenced, seeing how positive and fantastic it was, my fiancé (partner of 3 years) and I decided that we had outgrown our home and moved into something that could accommodate the 3 of us and our pup closer to where he will be attending school next year and closer to his mothers home.

This was quite an expensive move and within weeks of moving in and setting everything up in our new home, unfortunately all visitation has ceased. 

I have been advised that court is my only option.

I have NEVER been one to ask for help. I have always done things on my own. But now I need your help in order to get court orders in place to see my son.

The financial burden of this has already been so hard on my fiancé and I along with some financial support of family.

I am not asking for anything unreasonable in my requests to see him and would much prefer this to be settled outside of court.

We all know how expensive this process is and the only ones that win, are the legal teams and family court.

Please help me where you can or at the very least, share around.

Thanks for your support so far, it is something I am truely grateful for and it means so much to my family. It really shows that people believe in me and have seen first hand the father I truely am.
