Hi, welcome to my Eagle Scout Project!
Teens helping Teens in Foster Care.
My name is Julian Sotelo and I am a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 583, Castaic, California. I am working on my Eagle Scout Project which is required to earn my Eagle Scout Rank. An Eagle Scout Project is a project that benefits the community while requiring leadership, planning, fundraising and coordination of volunteers.
My project was inspired by my little sister who came to us from foster care. When she arrived, she only had a few possessions in a plastic grocery bag. It left a heart felt impression on me and this is why I have chosen to help kids in foster care as my Eagle Service Project.
The goal of my Eagle project is to gather funds and provide 100 duffel bags containing personal items such as clothes, blankets and toiletries to help teenage boys and girls by showing them that we care as they transition through the Foster Care System.
Many teens are suddenly taken from their homes and placed in foster care. There is no time to pack their belongings and many of their items are carried around in a plastic trash bag. I am partnering with Hope in a Suitcase which is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit group benefiting foster children.
Would you please consider joining me to reach my goal of giving teens a bag filled with personal items? More importantly, to give them hope and dignity during a difficult time. It will cost approximatley $30.00 to fill a bag with basic tolietries, a pair of socks, a pair of sweat pants, t-shirt, Journal or teddy bear. Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated. I plan on completing my project by July 1, 2017.
