Hi everyone,
We’re reaching out on behalf of our loved ones — Mitchell, Paia, and their boys, Zai and Micah — who are facing an unexpected and challenging chapter.
Mitch is one of those blokes who’s always hands-on. A hard-working tradie, devoted partner, and proud dad, Mitch is the kind of guy who shows up, gets stuck in, and never asks for much. But a rare and serious degenerative condition has knocked him off his feet — literally. He’s now facing major surgery, a long stint in a wheelchair, and many months of limited mobility as he recovers.
From running his own handyman business, renovating and building their family home, and helping build a temporary home for his parents-in-law, to tending their gardens and enjoying the outdoors with his boys — everything Mitch knows has come to an excruciatingly sudden stop. The family business is on hold, and life at home has turned upside down.
Right now, the focus is on getting Mitch ready for surgery and recovery, modifying the home to make it safer and more accessible, and doing what they can to stay afloat financially.
Unfortunately, Mitch doesn’t qualify for any official support — and they’re carrying this load on their own. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes, but this is the kind of family that just gets on with it, quietly.
That’s where we come in.
If you’re in a position to give — whether it’s a few dollars or just passing this on — we’ve set a goal of $15,000. Anything extra is so greatly appreciated! Every single bit will go straight toward helping with:
• build a chairlift inside their two storey home
• provide mobility aids so Mitch can access their land
• modify indoor spaces for safety and independence
• create and make safe outdoor paths
• support everyday financial responsibilities
We can help keeping things steady for this family while Mitch focuses on getting back to what he does best. No fuss, just real support for good people going through a tough patch.
Thanks for showing up.
