Jru Josiah Torres was born on September 24th 2020, nine months after he was born Jru had an accidental fall which resulted in a series of tests that ultimately determined via MRI that he had a stroke sometime during uteral, he exhibited seizure like activity, and also was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Fast forward to Sunday, June 2, 2024 at approximately 7:30 PM. Jru was playing with a large ball he had won from the arcade when he fell off of the ball and hit his head on the hardwood floor. Both Mom and I assessed Jru for injuries in which he vocalized he was ok and he refused an ice pack. Approximately an hour later Jru started vomiting. His speech was unrecognizable and he was unable to maintain eye contact. We immediately rushed him to the emergency department, following a CT scan he was flown by helicopter to OSF hospital in Peoria, when we arrived at OSF Jrus condition was noticeably better! He was able to answer questions and hold a little eye contact, the healthcare providers then placed Jru on an EEG machine which monitors brain activity, but throughout the night Jru exhibited multiple persyst seizure detections. Jru is now scheduled to have an MRI done to compare the MRI from when he was 9 months old, although worried, we are still optimistic of Jrus recovery because of how much of a fighter he is! But The dilemma that is on the back of our minds, which shouldn’t be during this time, pertains to finances. Mom‘s work insurance recently dropped 100% health insurance to OSF hospital Peoria. With Mom being in the medical field we found this to be extremely absurd. And a burden no parent should have to worry about on top of the health and well being of their child, and for that we are asking for your help. Any donation, small or large will go towards the medical bills for Jru accrued during our time here at OSF. We’re just trying to stay proactive and We ask that you keep Jru in your prayers and we thank you so very much for your contributions.
