Help the Ukrainian refugees

***update **** 28/03/2022
Thanks so much to everyone who donated whilst we were in Poland a few weeks back and followed the posts on Facebook of our journey giving to the refugees in Krakow.
Now we are home in Leeds and have been trying to figure out the best way to use the rest of the money - as you were all so generous we physically couldn’t spend it all on a Sunday in the polish mountains so we did what we could en route to Krakow.
We had about £800 left when we got back and Antony was keen to fund a van and drive over himself with some medical supplies .
However - we have since been in touch with the Ukrainian centre in Leeds and it makes more sense to donate directly to them as they have a much larger lorry leaving soon and it’s going via Slovakia and being met by family on the Polish / Ukraine boarder. We had a large amount of
Medical supplies donated too and they will be used by the army and hopefully the money the Centre is raising with go towards paying for ambulance.
Anyway - the money you all donated has been used directly on food which we bought in Costco today and it’s going over to the boarder where we trust it will get to safely and to those who need.
I’ll add a few pics but we bought a lot of snack bars and high calorie treats including sweets and chocolate as that’s what the collection was originally for. huge thanks again for your generosity. We have a little left over which if it’s ok with everyone we’ll spend on baby food for them but we couldn’t get this in Costco today.
Friends and family of Facebook and beyond
We are in Poland at the moment- feeling very lucky to be in the situation we are in enjoying a ski holiday & more grateful than we have ever felt in our lives to be together. My boy (in the pic) has fallen asleep on me just now. He has a warm bed and a hot meal waiting for him plus his Mummy & Daddy. My heart is breaking at the pictures I’m seeing daily in the news of these kids. And their mums all alone. How strong they’re having to be
On our way to the mountains we saw lots of Ukrainian refugees surrounding the train station in Krakow with nowhere to go. Feel very helpless and wondering what we can do whilst here. On Sunday we plan to go to Krakow and go and ask directly what they are in desperate need of right now. We’ll take some things with us as the kids will be with us, and go and buy what we can when we find out at they need.
I just wondered if anyone wanted to donate money directly to the cause I’d be happy to set up a small
Scale donation and we will take straight to them . We could go get a meal and some hot drinks for the day for them- maybe some kids treats. It’s freezing at the moment in krakow so we’ll see if they need warm clothes too and donate what whatever we have. If you would like to contribute a couple of pounds or whatever you wish and please share away . I’ll update Sunday once we are there , much love and thanks x
