Kristina Hannan and myself are starting this fundraiser to support the Zaichenko family.

Polina and her 3 children left Ukraine at the start of the war. Over the last year, the family has been struggling with uncertainty of husband/dad’s safety and losing contact with family. Recently, the family has also lost their apartment. They have secured new lodging, but it won’t be ready for a few months. In the meantime they must rent an interim apartment and need assistance. Dad is fighting in the Ukraine war and is not able to send much money to support the family. In addition, being a single mother of three small children with no family support, it is difficult for Polina to work over the summer months, therefore her income is very limited.

The eldest son, Roman, has been part of the Jr Sharks hockey community since they escaped to San Jose. You will often see little sisters Dominica and Veronica running around the rink, or mom Polina chasing them. The whole family has become a member of our hockey community. Without support, the family may need to return to Ukraine (their home is in Kiev).

Please support the family with anything you are able to donate, we would all be extremely appreciative. These funds will pay for their apartment over the next few months (we know how expensive housing is in SJ!!). Any remaining funds would go right to Polina to help with other needs such as car insurance, gas, PG&E bills, or any other type of living expenses. All money raised will go directly to supporting the Zaichenko family.
