Hello everyone! My name is JR. My dad is in need of around-the-clock care. The VA and other agencies will not approve my dad for long-term care. All doctors and staff say that he is not able to be home alone due to mental decline from dementia, and he is not able to walk or care for himself. He will need help in all areas of life. He can no longer make decisions for himself. The VA will only approve 2 hours of care for 4 days a week, Tuesday through Friday. I have to work a full-time job and can't be home to care for my dad.

So what I am going to try to do is stay at home full-time and care for my dad. I filled out an application for caretaking through the VA, but I was denied because his condition is not service-related. I am not hearing anything back from Medicaid. So I'm going to need to step up. But I can't do it without help. I will still need to buy groceries, make car payments and insurance payments, as well as pay the phone bill.

I don't like asking for help, but this may be the only way I can care for my father. Please find it in your heart to help us. This poor man has been through the wringer. Thank you to all who help support us during this difficult time. Thank you and love you.
