My name is Connor Lafeber, and I will be running the Madison Marathon on November 12, 2023. Until then, I am raising money for Humor to Fight the Tumor in honor of Rachel Woell.
Rachel was a classmate of mine at Totino-Grace High School in Fridley, Minnesota. She passed away in September 2014 after a long battle with cancer her senior year. I will never forget the positive impact Rachel had on the Totino-Grace community. Serving as the football team's manager, Rachel embodied her words that "every day is a gift" by never missing a practice or game until the day she passed away. Rachel's favorite color was lime green. A reminder of her presence can be found in lime green shoelaces or various other lime green accents still worn by teammates today.
Rachel's mother Yvette Woell informed me that Humor to Fight the Tumor was one organization Rachel held near and dear to her heart. She was an honoree of their annual event in 2006. I am grateful for the opportunity to raise money for this organization in Rachel's name and to echo her message that "every day is a gift" in doing so.
More information about Humor To Fight the Tumor Inc:
Humor to Fight the Tumor (HTFT) is dedicated to funding research and patient services that will improve the lives of brain tumor patients. We do this by raising awareness, providing support and encouragement, and offering uplifting events that will provide a sense of community and hope to affected individuals and families. Hope comes in the form of new treatments to fight brain tumors; a disease that produces devastating effects to a person's physical and cognitive abilities.
