Comfort Bags for the Homeless
Donation protected
Please support our effort in making comfort bags for the homeless on December 2 in memory of Adrienne Mira. This will be the ninth year we have had this initiative and I cannot tell you how much our efforts are appreciated by those less fortunate than we are.
Funds will go 100% to purchasing hats, gloves, scarves, toiletries, non-perishable snacks, socks, peanut butter, jelly, bread, tarps, women's hygiene items, and other needed items for 130 plus bags that will be distributed on December 2.
Last year, we went into Philadelphia, Kensington, and Pottstown and will continue helping our food-deprived and homeless community.
I have been saving donations people have given me throughout the year, and do not have enough for all the bags. We will aim for 130 bags minimum, depending upon additional donations.
All year, I have been a regular at Goodwills and yard sales to find blankets and sleeping bags. If some people are fortunate enough to have both a blanket and sleeping bag, they will wrap themselves up in the blanket and then go into their sleeping bag. Tarps help to create a waterproof surface to lay on or a lean-to shelter for some protection against rain, snow, and wind.
Last year, I was asked if we had food when we arrived at a site and learned that people we have served like Pop Tarts because they can have one for breakfast and one for lunch.
Picture that when you are with family and friends eating your next holiday meal.
In shopping recently, I also stocked up on Pop Tarts, along with healthy snacks that might satisfy hunger a bit longer.
Any donation to support this endeavor and allow us to carry on this tradition would be appreciated.
With gratitude,
Ginger
