JP Innovation Project - Launch

Hello! My name is Aaron Pettine and as many of you may know, my brother James Pettine passed away in December of 2006 after a battle with childhood cancer. James (JP) was a courageous, strong, kind, generous, loving brother, son, and friend who had a strong passion for all things golf, ski, technology, or innovation related.

For years I've struggled to cope with how best to keep his spirit alive and to honor the impact he made on our lives. In late 2020 I began brainstorming how to make this idea of memorializing James into a reality. After over a year of planning and preparation, we are excited to announce that we are launching a nonprofit foundation in his name and driven by his values and passions in life, the JP Innovation Project.

Our Goals
Our goal with the JP Innovation Project is to pay it forward, not only to the organizations that directly impacted James during his life and his battle with cancer, but also to fulfil his passion to inspire kids through his love for technology.

Mission
Our mission is to optimize opportunities for the high-need youth population and be a resource to help guide them towards connection and belonging within the technology community.

GoFundMe
We have poured in countless hours and financial resources to get this off the ground, but we need some help from the community to reach the finish line for our launch. This GoFundMe will directly support The JP Innovation Project in the following ways.
  • Finalize our 501c3 compliance application to become an official IRS nonprofit.
  • Legal and other fees related to achieving nonprofit compliance and associated guidance.
  • Logo/Website design fees for the JP Innovation Project.
  • Promotion and materials for the first in-person JP Innovation Project fundraising event slated for 2022.
  • Outreach support and nonprofit partner membership fees.
  • All funds raised whether we meet or exceed our goal will be instrumental in sharing James's passion for technology with today's youth community.

Where we are at so far
  • Officially filed Articles of Incorporation as a nonprofit in the state of Colorado.
  • Established 5 board of directors located across the country with reoccurring BoD strategy meetings.
  • Initial logo and branding design.
  • Initial website design.
  • Drafted official JP Innovation Project bylaws for governing.
  • Begun outreach to various technology nonprofits and organizations to partner with.
