Hi, my name is Tam Keays and I've set this page up in behalf of a very special family friend in Zimbabwe (pictured here on the far right). This wonderful person and his family have been a part of my family's life for over 40 years. All funds raised will be collected by me in the UK and sent to Albert in Zimbabwe.
Here is his story below, as written by his son.
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-Hearted Strangers,
My name is Albert Madore and I’m writing with both love and urgency about my father, Jowani Madore—a 64-year-old joyful spirit, devoted family man, and selfless community leader who is now battling Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).
To know my father is to know laughter, generosity, and unwavering strength. Even as a private taxi driver, he never just drove people—he listened, encouraged, and helped where he could. Beyond his work, he served as the Vice Chairperson of our local neighbourhood committee, always stepping up to support others. At home, he’s the rock of our family—a loving husband, father, and grandfather who provided not just for us but also for his elderly father and underprivileged grandchildren in the village.
Now, this man who gave so much needs our help to survive.
His Battle with Kidney Disease:
Two months ago, my father’s life changed when he was diagnosed with CKD, triggered by long-term high blood pressure. Since then, he’s been undergoing dialysis twice a week at Parirenyatwa Hospital, but his doctors insist he needs three sessions weekly to stay healthy and alive. The financial burden is crushing us.
The Heavy Costs of Survival:
• Dialysis Shortages: While Parirenyatwa can only provide two, free to subsidized dialysis sessions; critical supplies often run out, forcing us to buy:
o Epo 10000 injection → $32/session
o Blood lines → $10/session
o Heparin → $8/session
o Iron sucrose & other essentials → additional costs
• The Missing 3rd Session: Doctors demand three sessions weekly, but we can only afford two. Each extra session cost about $100 - $150 at private hospitals.
• Strict Renal Diet: His condition requires a specialized, low-sodium, low-protein diet—expensive but non-negotiable for his health.
• Monthly Medications:
o CKD drugs → $50/month
o High blood pressure treatment → additional costs
• Transportation: Weak and unable to drive, he now relies on others to get to treatment.
A Community Leader Who Now Needs His Community. My father has always been the first to help a neighbour, mediate disputes, or organize community efforts. Now, he can barely walk, his booming laughter has softened, and our family is struggling to keep up.
Long-Term Hope:
A Kidney Transplant. We’re researching kidney transplants (possibly in India) as a permanent solution, but the costs are still unclear. For now, we urgently need help covering his dialysis, diet, and meds to keep him stable.
How You Can Help Your support will directly fund:
✔ The life-saving 3rd weekly dialysis session (average of $130/session).
✔ Dialysis consumables (Epo, blood lines, heparin—$50+/session).
✔Clear a $1,000 outstanding medical bill at Parirenyatwa Hospital
✔ His strict renal diet (to prevent further complications).
✔ Monthly medications ($50+) and transportation.
✔ Future kidney transplant (if possible). No amount is too small—every dollar gives him more time with us. If you can’t donate, sharing this campaign is just as valuable.
Thank you for remembering the man who never forgot others. —Albert Madore & the Grateful Madore Family.
