Journey to Baby Webber

Donation protected
Family, Friends, and to all who support & love us,

We are excited to share with you that we have started the journey to find our child through adoption.

The possibility of adoption has been something that has always been in both of our hearts and dreams. On one of our first dates we actually shared with each other that we have both thought about adoption since we were kids. It was yet another sign that linked us together and made us feel more confident that we were meant to be together.

Jessica has struggled with Crohn's Disease most of her life, with that illness and linked complications causing the need for 8+ surgeries, many lengthy hospital stays, and multiple harsh treatments over the last 15 years. While Jessica has always dreamed of being a mother, with all that she has needed medically, she thought that carrying her own baby wouldn't be an option. This means that she has considered for many years that adoption might be her path.

When Ian was growing up, if someone were to ask him "what do you want to be when you grow up" the only answer he could think of (beyond professional baseball player) was that he wanted to be a dad. WIth this desire, adoption was a route he always knew of and his family can attest that he would say there are many kids out there who need love and he felt he has the love to give them.

Almost three years ago, as we started discussing and planning for a family, Jessica's doctor told her that they thought it would be safe and possible to try naturally for a baby. This is something we did not originally think was possible, so with this shock and excitement we started trying to conceive naturally for over a year before seeing a fertility specialist. After undergoing multiple rounds of fertility treatments, Jessica found herself in the hospital for two weeks due to what her doctors think may have been side effects of the fertility treatments mixed with her Crohn's Disease. After much discussion with her doctors and as a family, we decided it would not be safe to continue down that path as we wanted to maintain Jessica's health, especially for our future family.

We have so much love in our hearts to give to our future child, and we are now back on the path we both first thought of when we were kids ourselves. We are filled with so many emotions as we embark on this journey, but we are more excited than ever. We want everyone to know that we are doing everything we can to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. As part of that process, we have started a funding campaign.

While some of you may know this, to others it might come as a surprise to hear that the costs related to adopting a child can easily come to $40,000 or more. These costs cover things such as: application fees, agency fees, legal expenses, medical expenses, etc.. This is why we have set a goal of $40,000 to help ease this financial burden that can often overwhelm adoptive parents.

We are so grateful and thankful for your time and donations. We can not wait to continue sharing this exciting journey with you all. We know that our child is out there waiting for us.

Love,
Jessica & Ian Webber
