Journey to Baby Porter

Thank you for visiting our Go Fund Me page! Many of you have asked how you can help us – thank you! First, we’d like to share a bit of our story.

Mark and I met in 2015 and married in 2017. Shortly after, we learned that we would soon become parents. At a routine doctor’s visit, our baby was diagnosed with anencephaly – a severe defect in which large portions of the brain and skull are missing. It was not compatible with life. Although we were shocked, devastated, and grief-stricken, we decided to make the most of the time we had with our baby. In June of 2018, we experienced the stillbirth of our sweet daughter, Sofia Ann Porter.

Two years later, we met with our doctors to prepare for another pregnancy. By the spring of 2021, God blessed us with a baby boy. It was soon discovered that our son had exencephaly – a similar defect that had taken the life of our daughter three years prior. It was another incredibly challenging and extremely helpless time for us. In October of 2021, we welcomed Isaac Philip Porter. He was able to come home, where he died peacefully at 44 hours old.

Mark and I still have a strong desire to continue growing our family. We have decided to pursue infant adoption. Because this is a very lengthy and costly process, we are calling on the help of our family and friends for prayers, positive encouragement, and financial assistance. If you are able, we would greatly appreciate any financial support you can offer. There are still significant costs to cover despite the contributions we have already made. Your financial gift would go towards general adoption service fees, legal costs, placement costs, home safety inspection fees, and any additional expenses.

We thank you again for allowing us to share our story. Although no child(ren) could ever replace Sofia or Isaac, we are excited to continue our journey to parenthood.
