Journey Through Our Heritage Youth Trip

From our youth:

Hey everyone! We are a group of 11 ladies that have been a part of the Journey Through Our Heritage program for over 3 years now. We are making this fundraiser to try to raise money to be able to attend The Privilege Institute's WPC conference in April in Mesa, Arizona. We have been doing a lot of planning and discussion about why we want to go and learn more about how power and privilege, or lack of it, affect our lives. We hope to take the learning that we get from this trip to create a lesson to teach to our teachers and educate them more on these important issues. We will also be documenting our experiences and our travel and will be live from the conference back to our school so that other students can participate with us.

The young women that are a part of our Journey Through Our Heritage group have a great passion for what we do, and we hope you can help us reach our goal so we have a chance to experience this conference and get to meet and talk with other groups!

De nuestros jóvenes:

¡Hola a todos! Somos un grupo de 11 muchachas que han sido parte del programa Journey Through Our Heritage durante más de 3 años. Estamos haciendo esta recaudación de fondos para tratar de recaudar dinero para poder asistir a la conferencia WPC de The Privilege Institute en abril en Mesa, Arizona. Hemos estado haciendo mucha planificación y discusiones en clase sobre por qué queremos ir y aprender más sobre cómo el poder y el privilegio, o la falta de ellos, afectan nuestras vidas. Esperamos aprovechar el aprendizaje que obtengamos de este viaje para crear una lección para enseñar a nuestros maestros y educarlos más sobre estos temas importantes. También estaremos documentando nuestras experiencias y nuestro viaje, y estaremos en vivo desde la conferencia a nuestra escuela, para que otros estudiantes puedan participar con nosotros.

Las mujeres jóvenes que forman parte de nuestro grupo Journey Through Our Heritage tienen una gran pasión por lo que hacemos, y esperamos que puedan ayudarnos a alcanzar nuestra meta para que tengamos la oportunidad de experimentar esta conferencia y conocer y hablar con otros grupos!
