Journey of Mercy

Hey friends! I’m so excited to share some long-awaited news with you all! If you’ve been around me the past few years, you may have heard bits of my story, but here’s the full picture.

Back in 2018, I was planning a trip to Australia with a friend, but after some prayer and seeking guidance, God redirected me to join a mission trip to Nairobi, Kenya, with my church. While I was there, I had a profound experience serving and loving the community, and my heart was deeply moved. When I came back, I felt this overwhelming longing to continue serving in Africa, though I had no idea what that would look like.

I had just graduated from radiology school and was working at IU Health Methodist hospital, and while I loved my job and the people I worked with, I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more for me to do. So, I spent months praying and seeking the Lord’s guidance, and in 2019, my supervisor informed me about Mercy Ships —a hospital ship that provides free healthcare to communities in Africa. It seemed to be exactly what I had been praying for, but there was one catch: they required experience in CT.

If you knew me back in school, you’d know that I had zero interest in CT. I was determined to avoid it at all costs! But God had other plans. After sharing my hesitations with my supervisor, he looked at me and asked, “Do you hear yourself? This is what you have been praying for, and now you’re saying no because you don’t want to do CT?” His words hit me like a ton of bricks. In that moment, I realized I had to trust God’s plan, even if it meant stepping out of my comfort zone. The very next day, I reached out to my former instructors to see about joining the CT program despite being so close to the deadline. They were so kind to determine what I needed to do. A day after that though, my supervisor informed me that the team at Methodist was willing to train me on the job, which was a huge blessing. It was a whirlwind, but I could clearly see how God was orchestrating every detail, even in the moments that felt uncertain. Looking back over the past six years, I’m in awe of how faithful He’s been in guiding me, and I’m so thankful for the support I’ve received from all of you along the way.

Now, I’m thrilled to share that the door has opened for me to serve on the Global Mercy this August, in Sierra Leone, for 2.5 months! I’ll be working in the radiology department, and I can’t even begin to express how thankful I am for the way God has led me to this point. This feels unreal, and I know it wouldn’t have been possible without the prayers and encouragement from all of you. As I prepare for this adventure, I ask that you continue praying with me in the coming months—for the patients who will receive care, as well as the entire team serving aboard the ship. If you would like to help support financially that would also be extremely helpful. Although majority of my funds are covered, I am still needing support for food, insurance, and other expenses while I’m there. Any additional funds will go directly to Mercy Ships to help fund their work. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being part of this journey—your support, love, and prayers mean more than you know. If you have any questions or want more information, don’t hesitate to reach out.
God Bless!
