Journey Before Success CIC is a UK-based non-profit organisation.
Our principal activity is supporting BAME individuals and groups in the UK, Africa, and the Caribbean. We offer support, advice and training to help equip people with the tools they need, to recognise the barriers to their freedom and identify what changes need to be made in order to live a fulfilling lifestyle of their choosing.

2020 has been a very challenging, impactful and very overwhelming year. We at JBS have noticed that this has been particularly traumatising for people from BAME communities.
The UK government themselves have identified that people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups are twice as likely to contract the virus. This is linked to underlying health conditions and socio-economic factors such as pay inequalities across races and gender.
Individuals and groups from the BAME community have spoken about the trauma racial inequalities is bringing to their lives; whilst living with the day-to-day struggles of a society that constantly stereotypes and stigmatises them because of the colour of their skin.

Additionally, the pressures of home life has been a particular issue for women. Women have spoken about their mental health deteriorating due to lockdown and the increasing pressures put on them. In order to support their families they have been thrust into multiple roles including a teacher, a friend, a mother, a carer and in some cases with no support at all.
There are significant risks associated with some women having to spend more time at home. As well as impacting their mental health, it can lead to their physical health deteriorating, an inability to constantly look after their children as well as themselves and it can present the opportunity for financial, domestic and mental abuse from their spouses.
So what are we doing to help? Over the next six months we will be offering:
- One-to-one Strategic Life Coaching
- Covid-19 safe group therapy
- Covid-19 safe group fitness sessions women
- Covid-19 safe group fitness sessions for men
- 15 luxury Christmas food hampers and gifts to families
- Subsidised educational tuition through our partner agencies.
- The opportunity for households to receive food at a discounted rate
We will also be hosting :
- My Sister's Keeper Walking Club
- An online Vision Board Experience
- An online Self care Workshop
- Retreats - abroad and in the UK
- Our annual Women Of Excellence celebration event - celebrating our unsung females.
To do all of this we really need your support to help us raise the funds that we need to ensure we can provide all these services for FREE.

And for all our Black men we haven’t forgotten you, we see you, we love you, we appreciate you and we have services just for you.
Descendants Of Kings - DOK - specifically focuses on working with Black men.
A-lot of our Black men are feeling trapped, isolated and lonely and in order for that to be addressed they need to be able to get out and engage with services intentionally designed for them. Our programmes tailored for Black men will include 1-2-1 and group coaching, physical therapy and more.
