Josh's 70 mile run for MacMillan and his America dream
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Josh Bromwell, I am from Warrington, England, and I'm currently in my first year of being a football/soccer student-athlete out in Wyoming, USA. I have been tasked by my college to raise £1500 as part of my share of fundraising which goes directly back into the program for our scholarships, equipment and travel for away games.
As many of my close family and friends know, on January 31st my Grandad Les passed away from cancer. Just as it does for anyone affected by it directly or indirectly, my Grandad's diagnosis took its toll on my family, meaning that every moment spent with him was extra valuable. For me personally, it was hard to be on the other side of the world knowing that I was missing out on time with my Grandad, but I knew how much it meant to him for me to pursue my dream of playing and studying over in the USA, and to know that I made him proud made it that little bit easier to deal with.
During his diagnosis, my Grandad was massively supported by the Macmillan nurses, who really did a lot for him, especially in his final months with us. Due to this, I have decided that for my Grandad's age of 70 years old, I will complete 70 miles across the whole month of April, with the donations being a 50/50 split between Macmillan and my fundraiser to carry on pursuing my dream of playing football over here in America.
I have set a target of £1500, which would be incredible if I could manage to raise that much money, but in no way do I expect to raise such a high amount, so any donations would be massively appreciated and valued very highly. I will close the fundraiser on May 1st and the money will then be donated equally. I will be keeping updates posted on my social media pages of my runs to show that I am holding myself accountable.
Thankyou for taking the time to look at my fundraiser, it truly means a lot to me.
