Josh Simpson: The Hero who is humbly asking for help

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes, friends. The measure of a true hero isn't from the action or deed done by the person doing it, but rather the intention of said deed in their heart and soul. Heroes don't do what they do for attention nor acclaim nor recognition nor reward. A hero does what needs to be done because they know it's the right thing to do. It's the literal lesson of the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The world, unfortunately, is seriously lacking in heroes at the moment and needs more so as to inspire others and instill hope. It's astounding how the simplest of actions can have a veritable tsunami effect resulting in an act of genuine compassion and integrity.

Joshua Simpson, our dear and beloved Josh, is inarguably one of those heroes that selflessly stepped forward to perform an act of compassion and neighborly love, but was tragically met with an intensely unknown and unforeseen after effect that led to his current heartbreaking situation.

On Saturday, June 7th of 2025, literally one whole day after entering the sacred and holy bonds of matrimony with Cassie, the love of his life, Josh was the victim of a shooting committed out of sheer insanity and evil that has left him in a dire medical crisis; bedridden, in anguish, unable to walk, and denying him the life of blissful happiness he resolutely deserves with his wife, children, family, and friends who all adore him for exactly who he is. Through sheer determination and with iron willpower as hot as the sun, Josh is alive and in stable condition. One could even use the word "miracle" to explain how this man isn't deceased after being shot 8 times at point blank range.

But guess what? It's really no surprise in the slightest that Josh was able to live because of who he is and his determination to not go before his time is due. But who is he, exactly?

If you don't know the man personally, Josh Simpson is what one would call an all-around good human being and genuine individual. Josh is, undoubtedly, the truest of friends, family, and person one could always count on for a laugh, a hug, a favor, and much more so because of his generous and upstanding personality.

Josh began working for the City of Huntsville roughly five years ago as an entry level crew member, but nonetheless persevered with unwavering optimism to becoming a currently supervisory crew leader who manages multiple crews and employees so as to provide top tier and quality work to not only his staff, but to the city where he was born and raised. Every day, when Josh wakes up to begin work, his only goal is to perform his duties safely for himself & his crew and to give back to Huntsville everything it has given him and more after almost five decades of life.

When not working, Josh loves nothing more than spending quality time and making memories with his family, friends, and anyone lucky enough to be in his presence. If Josh says he's barbecuing and invites you over, you'd better bring your appetite because this man is a veritable grill master who can cook just about anything over some coals. A dedicated animal lover, Josh has a dog named Leonard and a cat named Church aka Pooty Butt who are practically his furry children. Josh's love extends to all things living on God's Earth and has always shown eye widening kindness to any kind of animal in need.

A dedicated Christian, Josh became a proud and grateful husband to his new wife, Cassie, on June 6th at the Huntsville State Park where he swore solemn vows in the presence of our Lord to begin his next chapter of life with his forever partner, best friend, and lover.

But friends, not all chapters have a happy or peaceful ending. This is where Josh and his family are left unsure what pages in the book of Josh's life are written or what outcome is going to come to pass.

Now, dear reader, it is YOUR opportunity to help our Josh. Here and now is where we, the people who love this man, can help write the next and prosperous chapter of his life.
