Joseph LaPera's road to Recovery!

Hi all, I hope this finds you well. My name is Jessica Bufano and I am creating this Go Fund Me page for both my Mother and Father. If you aren’t aware my parents had lost everything again from Hurricane Helene and Milton just after being able to make their house a home again from Hurricane Ian. After some time and help my parents were able to find a rental again to move into while they could start the process to repair and re-build.

During this stressful time my father had been dealing with bouts of Diverticulitis, being as strong as he his, he pushed through the painful bouts until the pain was too much for him to handle. The first night they got into the rental my father had to be rushed to the Emergency Room when we got the news, he had a terrible infection as well as a small hole in his colon. With hopes of strong antibiotics fighting the infection, his doctors decided that they needed to go in to drain the abscess, keeping in mind that it could potentially not work and would have to open my father completely.

They were able to drain the abscess but that evening my father spiked a fever and he needed to be rushed for emergency surgery to remove the infected portion of his colon.

This has been a huge set back physically and mentally for my father and our family. He was in the Hospital for just over a month and my mother never left his side.

My father is the backbone of our family, always putting others before him and now it is time to put his health first. He is one to never ever give up and it has really shown through times like this.

Unfortunately, my father is going to be out of work for over a month or so to get back his strength and get back to this new normalcy. During this time, he won’t be getting paid, with losing everything again from the Hurricane and now having this to cope with all these extra medical expenses and supplies that are now needed, any donations would tremendously help our family during this tough time.

Also, I want to thank everyone for who has prayed for my father during this difficult time.
