Joseph Aged 13 - Charity Trip to Tanzania

Hello everyone,

My name is Joseph Hegarty and I am a 13-year-old student at Heart of England School in Balsall Common. I am trying to raise funds for a school trip to Tanzania in 2026 to help less privileged children get an education, safe shelter and clean water.

I am extremely passionate about helping those less fortunate than myself and have been offered the chance to go to Tanzania to help the local people with all manner of activities. My parents have said I can go if I can raise enough money to fund my trip, and if i am successful I will be involved in a month long expedition where i will be be working closely with local people to improve the infrastructure of rural villages and make a positive impact to the surrounding environment. This could include helping to build classrooms, constructing and refurbishing community buildings and installing water storage systems. I will also be getting involved in some vital environmental project work, to help actively tackle issues such as deforestation, climate change and habitat protection. This could include tree planting, digging water holes or making elephant dung paper (yes elephant dung!!!)

I am trying to help the people in my local area particularly those people who struggle to get around (elderly and infirm) by cleaning cars, doing shopping and gardening and in return asking for a donation to help fund my trip. Obviously i cant get to just any geographical areas as I am only 13 but where I can I will as I am committed to making this happen.

If I cant do anything for you but you would still like to make a donation to my cause i would be extremely grateful for any contributions (no donation is too small and every penny will go to this cause) and will post updates on this page as to how my fundraising is going.
