My name is Joseph Burke, and I am a Life Scout in Troop 116, Valley Stream. For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be an Eagle Scout. I attended my first Cub Scout meeting when I was a week old with my brother. I watched my brother and sister earn their Eagle Scout awards, and now it is my turn.

For my Eagle Scout project, I will be providing necessary repairs to the parish outreach house at Holy Name of Mary Church (HNOM) in Valley Stream. The HNOM Parish Outreach program provides vital services to any Valley Stream families in need, regardless of religious affiliation.

Some services they provide include bereavement support groups, employment services and referrals, home visits, shopping for the homebound, and transportation to and from doctor appointments. They also provide much-needed food items to members of the community who live with food insecurity through the food pantry.
