Nearly three years since he'd been home...
Throughout this time apart from family, Jose has shown extraordinary resilience. He gave his family into the care of a wider community and trusted that we would help them during the long time of waiting. Now, Jose has come home. And there's work to be done as he applies for employment authorization and takes care of his health with greater attention than was paid to it while in NWDC. Ten days after release, it's becoming clearer that we continue on a long journey.
Many are asking how to help in this time of waiting. We've increased the goal of our fundraiser to set a more realistic goal that will help the family get on track financially. Even after the first bills were paid, there's so much still to cover: rent, utilities, repairs, not to mention Jose's medical and dental care.
