The Adoption Adventure of a Lifetime Awaits
Jordin and CJ are high school sweethearts that have been together since 2012. They have always wanted to create their own family. When they were ready to start growing their family, they struggled with infertility. After being told that they were not going to be able to have biological children, they decided to take some time before deciding what direction to move towards next. After a year, they decided that adoption was the way to build their family.
As they imagine baby cries in the middle of the night and little feet padding around the house with the fur babies (Copper, Zeus, and Ollie), your support as they move towards the next steps is so appreciated. The adoption process includes many fees and studies in order to ensure successful placement.
Having known both Jordin and CJ for nearly half of my life, I can confidently say that they will make amazing parents. They are a couple that loves fiercely, and is motivated to be the best they can be for each other and their families. As they keep moving forward, their dedication to each other is inspiring. They have always been surrounded by young children and are always excited to build bonds and create relationships. As parents, they look forward to fostering the growth of their child and ensuring that their child grows up to be kind, independent, and hard working. Together, Jordin and CJ enjoy camping, kayaking and hiking and cannot wait to include their child in these activities.
There are two parts of the adoption process: Pre-Activation and Post-Activation. Each is unique in its own way. Jordin and CJ cannot be matched until the Pre-Activation requirements have been met.
Pre-Activation includes:
$495: Pre-Application Fee
$2,500: Home Study Fee
$300: Home Study Review Fee
$1,300: Video Profile Fee
$12,350: Online Marketing Services Fee
$3,000: Activation Fee
Post-Activation includes:
$7,250: American Administrative Fee
$7,250: Support and Education Fee
Varies: Living expenses of the mother until birth
Varies: Medical Retainters
Varies: Attorney/Agency Travel Costs
Varies: Legal/Termination/Counseling Fees
Varies: Risk-Sharing Fee
Varie: Additional Advertising, Marketing, and Networking Fees
The breakdown of these feeds comes to $19,945 for Pre-Activation and approximately $36,600 for Post-Activation. This means Jordin and CJ’s adoption process will cost roughly $56,545. With the support of friends and family, we are hoping that we can help Jordin and CJ continue to move towards the next steps of adopting.
As cliche as “This is their dream and let’s help make it come true,” is, I would like to end by saying this is their dream and let’s help make it come true. The support will always be remembered and honored. Jordin and CJ deserve the life they have always dreamed of having. Growing their family through adoption is their next step.
A little information about the fees:
American Adoption does not do Home Studies in Wisconsin so Jordin and CJ need to have a separate agency complete this step. Because of this, the study is then sent to American Adoptions to be reviewed. The video is created based on information and things sent in to the adoption agency. They also create the advertising used to locate prospective birth parents considering adoption. The activation fee is simply for networking and general overhead costs for American Adoptions. After Jordin and CJ are matched with a birth mother, they become responsible for many, if not all, of the living expenses including rent, groceries, utilities, and clothing. They are also responsible for all of the child’s medical costs, depending upon the birth mother’s insurance. The risk-sharing fee allows for expenses that have been paid into the adoption to be refunded to Jordin and CJ should the birth mother choose to parent her own child. This ensures that Jordin and CJ have the opportunity to use these funds in the next adoption opportunity.
