My lovely boy went on holiday with a close friend and his parents in July to Spain. Whilst there, and out of the blue, he was violently assaulted by his ‘friend’ after a small disagreement.

Jonny was in so much pain and felt so traumatised being there still with the ‘friend’ and his family he was desperate to come home early so had no choice but to get a flight home ALONE the next day , something that caused him an incredible amount of anxiety and upset.

Once home it was revealed that he had been hit so hard that his jaw was fractured in two places and required emergency surgery to have 2 metal plates fitted in his jaw.

Since then he has been unable to eat, he has lost almost 2 stone in weight and all of his confidence and trust in friendships he still has.

To make matters a million times worse he was due to start his career in the army on 14th September on a starting salary of 26k. His dreams have all been taken away from him and he is left with not knowing where to go in life with no college place or apprenticeship lined up as all his friend have.

Yes, he can reapply for the army in the future when and if he is better and medically fit but it will be an entire start from scratch process for him. He worked tirelessly for the army during studying for his GCSEs and had to do assessments and overnight stays to finally pass the highest score on the fitness for qualifying for the parachute regiment. This one act of viscousness has ruined everything he worked so hard for and was immensely proud of himself for achieving.

Due to the fact the incident happened in Spain, unfortunately he cannot claim any form of compensation for his assault through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority and I’m reaching out to see if anyone would like to help him. Money won’t fix what has been done to him physically or mentally but it might help make things feel a little easier due to him losing his job offer and all the extra hours he could have been working at his part time job since leaving school.

Seeing my once confident and outgoing son so shaken up and wounded by these events has just been the most awful thing to watch.

Jonny is recovering well from the operation but he still suffers daily with pain and discomfort and eating is difficult. He has a big scar that constantly reminds him of what happened and he faces likelihood of having long term problems later in life.

We are back and forth to QMC for check ups but he can’t do any contact sports for the forceable so he can’t even do what he loves ie football and boxing to help his mental state currently.

We have been overwhelmed with kind words and support from so many people and even his school teacher have been in touch h to offer support if needed. We are so thankful for everyone’s kind words. If anyone would like to donate to help Jonny with even the smallest amount of compensation it would be so so heart warming. Even If we could just surprise him with the gift of a massive slap up meal with all his fave foods after weeks of living on shakes would be amazing.
