Hello,
My name is Jonathan Haug and I have been in scouting since 2012. From the beginning, my goal has been to achieve the rank of an Eagle Scout. The Eagle is the most esteemed rank in the scouting journey, and only a small percent of scouts obtain this distinguished rank. One part of the Eagle rank process is to facilitate a service project to help one’s community, school, or religious institution.
The beneficiary I have chosen is the Green Oaks Memory Care Facility. The Memory Care Facility is a 24/7 care program that aids those with memory conditions. The facility’s staff organizes activities for the residents to participate and interact with one another. The residents love to socialize, birdwatch, and take part in creative activities. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the residents experienced detachment caused by socialization limitations put in place due to their increased susceptibility to the disease.
For my project, I will be conducting several revitalizing measures to the Memory Care Facility’s courtyard in order to make it more intriguing for the residents, offering an opportunity for the residents to once again socialize, birdwatch, and think creatively. First I will work to attract more birds by constructing various feeders and birdhouses as well as installing native perennials within the courtyard. Second, I will refurbish a seasoned birdbath, install bench cushions for a more comfortable outdoor environment. Lastly, I will provide an opportunity for the residents to socialize and do art activities by painting the birdhouses and creating bird decals for the windows.
To begin, I am raising funds to buy the materials and products needed to complete this renovation. I estimate I will need $800 to sufficiently carry out the goals of my project. I would be very appreciative if you can contribute to my Eagle Scout Project by donating to this fundraiser. If the fundraiser's progress exceeds the original funding goal, all proceeds will be donated to the Memory Care Facility.
