Hello! My name is Melinda and doing this on behalf of my dear friend Jon Harris. He and I grew up together, and have been friends nearly my whole life. He’s too humble to consider asking for help himself, and so I wanted to give him this gift for his 35th birthday and the holidays. I wanted to create for him this Go Fund Me campaign, to help get him financial support for his surrogacy journey.
My three children adore Jon; the two that can speak even call him “Uncle Jon.” Not surprisingly, this is a trend with so many families we know. We love him and our kids love him. He’s like family. Jon’s always down for games, to dance, sing, play with the kids. He gets them the coolest gifts, and really truly listens to them!
So, yes I know Jon as a best friend, and we know him as Uncle Jon. And then, I remember that literally thousands of children over so many years have known Jon as “Teacher Jon.” “Jester Jon.” “Silly Jon.” “That cool music teacher Jon.” Jon has positively impacted so many young children throughout his life and career. Jon is a fantastic teacher - and music has become his vessel to impact and make young students feel not just heard, but seen and understood and confident! What a wonderful gift he gives them! His future child will be so lucky to have him guiding her and loving her. I say her, because he’s talked about his “future daughter” for almost as long as I’ve known him. “Her name will be Mea,” he says. “Mini Me-a, you get it?” He loves jokes.
And now more than ever, Jon is ready to be a father. He has responsibly achieved financial security and is ready to raise a baby. However, he is not able to secure that last huge financial hurdle that comes with surrogacy and egg donation. Costs for surrogacy and egg donation average $200,000+! Which by itself is a tremendous obstacle. But more, as a single father, he worries that if he spends all of his savings on surrogacy, that’ll leave him financially vulnerable and unprotected once the baby comes.
Everyday, Jon hears from his students, their parents, his colleagues, neighbors, family, friends, me, you - we tell him that he “would be such a wonderful father.” “What are you waiting for?” we ask. This, this is what he's waiting for - $200,000. And I’m asking you for your help. I’m asking for you to help him by donating what you can to his Surrogacy Fund. Help Jon become a father. He deserves this.
