Jon Wittwer’s Story and Cancer Diagnosis
Don protégé
My name is Brooke Wittwer and I am a young professional just beginning my career in the Minneapolis area. My parents are Jon and Tina Wittwer. They live in the house where I grew up in the Wilmar/Lake Lillian area of central Minnesota. I created this after receiving the devastating diagnosis that my father Jon has throat cancer. This is on top of the health issues he has been battling since I was still in high school in 2016. That year he was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, Coronary Artery Disease, Diabetes, Heart Failure, Hypertension, and Liver Disease. All of this and he is only 57 years old.
At this point my father is going through a seven week chemotherapy and radiation treatment, that requires a 3 ½ hour round trip drive five days a week in addition to the therapy sessions. In addition to the physical and mental strain this is putting both of my parents through it has created a monetary strain as well. My mother is a hairdresser and it is only through the help of friends and family that she is able to work most days while my father is able to get the treatment he needs.
Jon is a true outdoorsman. He loves to hunt and fish and spends as much time as possible doing that. He and his faithful yellow Lab Buddy never miss opening day of Duck hunting season and he is on the water, summer or winter with a fishing pole as often as possible. If it were up to Buddy he’d be in the tree stand with Jon during Deer season too. My dad is also a mechanic and great handy man. Whether it is at his job or in his garage he loves to tinker and fix things. From small electric motors to the engine in my, or mom’s, or his vehicle he can probably fix what’s wrong with it. I can’t even count the number of times he’s fixed something on my car and I’ve only been driving for a few years. He also loves to garden and cut, split and stack our fire wood.
He and my mother have devoted a large portion of their time, money and effort to make sure I had everything I need to get through high school and college and put me on a path to success. Now I am putting this page together in the hopes I can help them in their time of need. My dad has always been there for me and really for anyone he knows that has needed a helping hand and I am asking for your help for him now.
My goal is $20,000 dollars but anything you and your family can spare would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and God Bless,
Brooke Wittwer.
