Jon M Peters Memorial Scholarship Fund
Jon Peters, long-time resident of Chester, Vt, and more recently of Charlotte, NC passed away on November 3, 2020. Jon was a devoted community volunteer, high school teacher, track coach and avid outdoorsman. Whether portraying Santa in community events, volunteering on the ambulance squad, or raising money for families suffering from medical hardship, Jon felt giving to his community was the highest calling. Jon's greatest community achievement was being the inspiration, lead fund-raiser and advocate for the construction of the athletic track at Green Mountain Union High School in Chester, Vt. It is in the spirit of this legacy that his family would like to create a memorial scholarship in his memory.
The Jon M Peters Memorial Scholarship fund will provide funds for a community minded student-athlete at GMUHS to pursue higher education or a trade/vocational path after graduation. The funds will be disbursed annually through the scholarship fund.
Jon’s impact in his community, as a teacher, athletic coach, volunteer and devoted father has been immeasurable. His family hopes his life’s work will continue to inspire youth for many years through this legacy scholarship opportunity.
