Help Jomer Vallejos be on his feet and see the world again

Hi everyone, my name is Diana and I am knocking on your generous hearts to help me with this fundraising for a very dear friend and work colleague Jomer Vallejos.

Jomer, who is known as Jom to us, came to the UK in 2019 to pursue his career as a nurse. He loved his job and everyone knows him as a caring and thoughtful person. Always putting others first above himself. As a senior Filipino nurse in the ward, having the experience and nursing skills, he has been a source of inspiration to others. Jom has always been a visible leader and a mentor. Above all, he is known for his compassionate patient care and professionalism at work. He is always ready to lend an ear and a hand whenever needed.

Sadly, in 2023 he was diagnosed with multiple nerve and brain tumours . This was a shock to Jom , his family and to all of us, his friends and work colleagues. Knowing this, it did not stop him from living his life and doing what he loves, going to work and look after patients and visiting scenic places in the country on his days off. Living each day like it's the last, as he used to say.

Unfortunately, his symptoms developed rapidly and had to undergo a 13- hour harrowing brain surgery in April this year. The operation went on as planned, thanks to his competent and talented team of doctors and nurses. However, his recovery did not go too well due to many complications following the surgery, from hydrocephalus, chest infections, loss of voice, blurred vision, to losing his ability to walk independently.

Jom is now on his road to recovery, though his medical team suggested it will be a long journey until he fully regains his health. Regardless, he is keeping a positive mindset that someday he could return to work and be on his feet again . We are ever so thankful for everyone at work for their continuing support and understanding, from the unit up to higher management, however there is only so much that they can do due to Jom's visa restrictions. His finances is now getting more difficult due to being off work since the surgery and he is not eligible for public funds.
