Joint hands for a bright future for our children

It was the year 2022 when 15 of us, from all over Europe, decided to take a trip to Peru, into the heart of the Amazon jungle, to seek healing, personal evolution and peace. Little did we know, that after 10 days chasing tarantulas out of our little jungle houses, avoiding scorpions and eating rice and boiled platanos, our hearts would eventually find fulfillment and joy, within the walls of a children’s orphanage, just outside the jungle, in the city of Pucallpa. It all started with the suggestion of a local friend, who volunteers at the orphanage, to organize a dinner, with the 15 of us and the 60 children. Once there, we soon learnt that the children hadn’t eaten meat in 2 years.. that during school breaks and holidays, they remained within the walls of the orphanage, without being able to go anywhere..to the pool, to the movies, or even outside the walls of the orphanage. That they needed new shoes, new sleeping facilities. That when they turned 18 years old, they would be literally out on the street, without anyone caring for them, hosting them, without a craft in their hands, nor any means to financially support themselves.
As it was close to Christmas back then, the 15 of us joined hands and left a budget for the children to receive a proper dinner (meat included) and gifts for Christmas. But that could not be all of it. This is how an idea was born: to try and support the little needs and maybe, also the bigger needs and future of the children. To join hands with all our friends, families, and communities, and try to help the children, in their present and in their futures. Beggining of 2023 we raised over 500 euros from friends and family and we managed to organize a wonderful surprise for the children: a full day of fun, at the pool with food, snacks, bus and all the necessary. We though that there is nothing more soothing for a child’s heart than being allowed to be a child, forget reality for a moment and make precious memories. Moving forward into the year, and discussing with the people caring for the children, we have set a new goal, having in mind that more than anything, mental health, a sense of togetherness and laughter are amongst the most important aspects for a child growing strong and resilient: so we have set the goal of providing a TV set for all the buildings where children are hosted. The TV sets would part of the recreational program of the children, and would be used only after dinner time, allowing them to get together around a dance contest or a cooking show. For this project, the total amount that we are striving to raise is 1700 euros, that will allow us to cover the full expenses for the acquisition and installation of the television sets. We are grateful for any additional person who feels inspired to join hands with us, to do a little something that could make a child of today, a happier human tomorrow. This is just one step along this journey of support and it warms our hearts to be able to spread kindness and hope for the children of the future.

We are having in our pipeline many of them, amongst which, creating workshop stations and hiring personnel to teach the more adult children a craft, like wood working, tailoring, cooking, gardening, which will serve them on their way to financial autonomy once out of the orphanage.
