Honoring Chaya’s Courage by Spreading Light in Bondi
In the aftermath of the horrific terrorist attack at Bondi Beach, one story has deeply moved people around the world — the courage of 14-year-old Chaya, who was wounded while shielding young children from gunfire.
Since then, countless people have reached out asking how they can help Chaya or contribute in her honor.
Chaya and her family want to be very clear:
They are not raising funds for personal use.
This GoFundMe exists only because so many people were inspired and insisted on giving.
Instead of keeping the funds, Chaya and her family have chosen to redirect this outpouring of kindness toward spreading light, strength, and Jewish life in Bondi — while helping their community heal — through their local Chabad House and its community activities.
Why This Matters:
Acts of terror are meant to spread fear and darkness.
This response does the opposite.
All donations raised here will go toward:
Jewish educational programs and youth activities
Community gatherings, holiday celebrations, and outreach
Strengthening Jewish identity, pride, and connection in Bondi
Bringing light, hope, and unity to a community that has endured trauma
Chaya has said she does not see herself as a hero — she simply did what she felt was right. By choosing to channel this support into communal good, she and her family are turning pain into purpose.
If you were moved by Chaya’s courage and want to honor her actions, this is a way to do so without focusing on one individual, but by uplifting an entire community.
Your donation helps ensure that Jewish life in Bondi grows stronger, brighter, and more visible — precisely in response to hate.
Thank you for helping transform inspiration into impact.
