Join Zaki in Welcoming His Family Home

Another miracle story in the house!!! Many of you know about Zaki, he came to live with me through the United Nations Unaccompanied Refugee Minor program as a foster child through Onondaga Social Services and Catholic Charities. He is from Afghanistan and was smuggled out when he was 13. He recently became a United States citizen!!!! He is one of the hardest working young people I know. In high school he was on the high or principal's honor roll every semester, despite the language issues. He has also been on the Dean's list ini college.

Zaki’s two older brothers plus one of the brother's wife and two little girls, escaped from Afghanistan several months ago because their lives were in danger, traveling from Iran to Brazil, where this photo was taken, then up through Central America, including a harrowing ride on a crowded open boat, the youngest one without a life vest because they didn’t have any her size, and finally to the Mexican border.

They were interviewed a couple of weeks ago, were cleared to enter the US and are now in a shelter in San Diego!

We have procured housing for them in Ithaca through the Ithaca Welcomes Refugees program!!! They should hopefully be arriving soon! Can't wait to meet them! Zaki as well, he hasn't seen them in ten years! I couldn’t be more excited for Zaki!! ❤️❤️❤️

One of the brothers is a dental hygienist and the other has a degree in computer science. I am sure they will be hard working and contributors to society very soon!!!

But we do need your help, we have to fly them here and help them with clothing and food as they get started on this new journey. Anything you can help us with will be much appreciated. .
