Dear Neighbor,
We’re a group of concerned Oakland residents and volunteers who are working together to prevent illegal dumping on Courtland Ave and Redding Ave in Maxwell Park.
In partnership with the High St Coalition, we are putting up signage, installing solar powered cameras and lights to deter illegal dumpers. In the future, we plan to add large, galvanized steel planters to line the streets to beautify Courtland Ave and to further prevent illegal dumping in our neighborhood.
We're raising funds to purchase and install two large 48"x24" signs, solar powered cameras, solar powered lights, and planting materials for this corner of Redding and Courtland.
Excess funds raised will be donated to the Urban Compassion Project which helps to clear illegal dumping, support communities affected by illegal dumping, and provide unhoused individuals access to critical services in the city of Oakland.
Interested in volunteering? See our project plan here. Our goal is to complete phase 1 (cameras, sign installation) by November 2025. Phase 2 (planters, garden) will begin this fall to be ready for coming spring 2026.
