Join us in making a difference for Hurricane Helene Victims!

This GoFundMe was created by the employees at Dooley Mack Constructors to help provide aid to the Hurricane Helene Victims. Our offices are located in Georgia and South Carolina. Hurricane Helene's devastation has impacted not only our neighbors in surrounding states, but also the families and friends of several Dooley Mack employees. We're committed to helping and offering our support in two phases:

Phase 1: Immediate Relief (Basic Necessities) We are collecting essential items until October 25th. This includes essential items such as: non-perishable food, water, hygiene products, pet food, baby formula, diapers and other critical supplies at our Georgia and South Carolina offices (Mon-Fri, 8 am - 5 pm) These items will be loaded in Dooley Mack trailers and taken to responders in impacted areas to distribute to those in need.

Phase 2: Long-Term Targeted Needs (Monetary and Material Donations)

Your monetary and material donations will directly support families, friends, and communities impacted. This is also where we hope our vendors and subcontractor trade partners will come in handy, as we plan to hold a drive for building materials to get to affected people who will need to rebuild. Updates on specific recipients will be added here as needs are identified.

Here's where your donations will go:

A portion will go to Sharing House (Brevard, NC) www.sharinghouse.org and Bread of Life https://www.breadoflifetc.org/
This organization, near the home of SC Vice President Jeff Boyer, provides essential resources and hot meals to devastated areas.

Greeneville, TN: This community, home to SC Estimator Richard Renner's family, experienced severe flooding. Richard’s own brother and 5 neighbors lost their houses to flood waters when the Nolichucky River spillway and banks were overwhelmed.

Our Vice President, Jeff Boyer, experienced the storm's destructive force firsthand in North Carolina.
He recounts:
I can't overstate the impact this experience has had on me. It's not just because we love North Carolina and live there. I've been through tropical events, hurricanes, third-world environments, and war zones. Yet, I've never witnessed destruction of this scale.
On Friday, September 27, 2024, on the tail end of the storm, we unknowingly rode into a living hell. No water, electricity, food, or way out. No way to communicate. Families were separated, with no way to communicate with each other. Families were divided on either side of this massive river now running down Main Street. The bridge that was once over that river was no longer there. My heart aches for those still waiting to hear from their loved ones, for that "I'm okay" reply.
The destruction was way beyond my comprehension. It's not just about the bridge, road, or town. Lives are intertwined amidst mudslides, floods, power lines, homes, trees, businesses, cars, and roads. During this ordeal, not being able to reach my family was excruciatingly painful.
Seeing people with very little themselves giving to others in this catastrophe was equally heartbreaking. Knowing they were potentially giving away their last comfort or resource, with no guarantee of when they would have more. We saw families with small children in the back seat, still in pajamas, asking for advice on where to go with only a gallon of gas left in the tank. We had $8 in quarters, which we exchanged for a box of Pop-Tarts and four bottles of water. We had a half a tank of fuel, and we felt incredibly fortunate. We made it out, but many haven't.
As we toured the southeast, searching for a way out, we saw countless needs. The situation in the Ashville area is particularly dire. I could go on and on about the sacrifices, hope, community, and love we witnessed firsthand. But the truth is, many people are desperately struggling to meet their basic needs.

Our coworker, Josh has shared the view from a helicopter below during his volunteer efforts to help those in rural areas get supplies.

Please consider donating essential items or monetary contributions to help our neighbors in need. Every donation, no matter the size, will make it to the people in need and will make a real difference in the lives of those affected by Hurricane Helene.
