In honor of Brenda McGruder, AIA, the American Cancer Society's Denim Day is observed during October. Brenda not only used to host this day in the past for the AIA office, but she was also very passionate about the cause.
In 1996, National Denim Day started as a fun and casual way to raise funds for breast cancer research, and it has blossomed into something much bigger. This October, let’s all wear our jeans to work on October 20th and contribute to a meaningful and impactful initiative that uses the universal symbol of denim to support the fight against breast cancer—your donation can be as simple as $5 or $10. Each contribution counts, and together we can help make strides toward eliminating breast cancer.
By wearing denim, we show solidarity with breast cancer survivors and patients, raise awareness about the disease, and contribute to life-saving research and support services. #WearDenimGiveHope
Please join Soaring High for Brenda -TEAM AIA in support of this cause on Monday, October 20, 2025, as we remember one of AIA’s longest-serving and most treasured employees.
With her beaming smile, Brenda takes a call at her desk during the early years of AIA at the old office location in DC.
Hope you join this great cause in honor of a great woman.
