Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted Strangers,

My name is Sharon Osborne, and I am reaching out for your support to help my dear friend, Cherie Dewey Ridley, her husband Jeff, and their 7 year old daughter Vivian.

On Friday, January 17 disaster struck as the Ridley family was backing out their car on the way to pick up groceries. In mid-conversation, Jeff, a hospice chaplain for Catholic Health, stopped talking, slumped to the side and became unresponsive.

While a good neighbor cared for their daughter, an unconscious Jeff (with Cherie at his side) was rushed to the hospital. A day later, doctors determined that he had suffered a series of strokes from multiple blood clots and was fighting a blood infection, all resulting from a cardiac ablation procedure one week prior.

Jeff remains unresponsive at this time but makes some small movements. Due to his condition and underlying medical issues doctors are unable to medically clear the clots, hoping his body will be able to clear them on its own. Jeff's road to recovery will be long, and will likely not be a full one. Both the left and right hemisphere of the parietal lobe of his brain have been injured, and he will have at least one finger amputated due to the blood infection.

Through all of this, Cherie has been a rock star, juggling time spent reassuring their young daughter, advocating for Jeff in the hospital, and trying to keep on top of bills, groceries, and basic human needs for herself and her daughter. I doubt she has taken even a moment to fully experience her own emotions in the midst of this crisis.

As a freelance contractor in the fashion industry, a Girl Scout leader, and an active member in her church, Cherie is currently unable to work and support her family financially through this difficult time.
