Hi friends, family, and kind hearted strangers,

We’re Michael and Ashley, and we are thrilled (and quite frankly a little nervous) to share something deeply personal with you all. We are currently in the process of adopting a child internationally!! A dream that’s been growing in our hearts for years.

Due to some unexpected twists in our journey (biology, am I right?), adoption has become the path we’re taking to grow our family. But if we are being honest, even before we knew it would be our only option, adoption was always in our hearts. It’s something we’ve talked about for years as a meaningful and intentional way to become parents. After lots of time, research, and heartfelt conversations, we’ve taken the leap of faith and officially begun the process of international adoption.

Why International Adoption?

After several years of anxiously awaiting a Domestic Adoption we have made the difficult but necessary decision to pursue International Adoption as well! We believe it is in a way fate that our circumstances have led to this moment and our hope is to provide a child not only with a home, but with a life full of love, family, and stability.

Where We Are in the Process

Adoption is a journey that we are very familiar, yet still so unfamiliar with. One filled with paperwork, meetings, training, and a lot of patience. We’ve completed the initial steps of being approved by the Ministry of Social Services in the province of Saskatchewan, and we are currently in the beginning stages of doing our home study and PRIDE training.

We’re fully committed to this path, no matter how long it takes. But we can’t do it alone.

Why We Need Your Help

International adoption is a beautiful but expensive process. The average cost ranges from $40,000 to $100,000 (ours will most likely be roughly $50 000), which includes:

• Home studies and legal paperwork

• Agency and country fees

• Immigration and travel expenses

• Post-adoption support and services

We’re doing everything we can to cover costs through savings, side hustles, and anything else we can think of, but some wonderful people in our life suggested we start a GoFundMe for anyone that would like to support.
