Help Jennifer Rebuild a Safe, Stable Home for Her 9 Children

I’m writing this with humility and hope, asking our church family, friends, and loved ones to come together for a mother who has fought tirelessly for her children.

Jennifer is the mother of nine children. After a six-year legal battle, she was finally awarded full custody of her four oldest children on December 9. This victory came after unimaginable perseverance, heartbreak, and faith—and while it is a joyful ending to a long fight, it is also the beginning of an overwhelming rebuilding process.

How We Got Here

In 2015, Jennifer found herself in a difficult season and made the painful decision to leave her children in North Carolina with their grandmother while she returned to New York to get her life stabilized. By 2017, Jennifer returned and has been the best mother she could be, working full-time, remaining present, and consistently fighting to be part of her children’s lives.

Though she was eventually granted joint custody, there was no formal visitation order. Over time, the grandmother repeatedly kept the children from Jennifer, creating an increasingly unstable and unsafe environment.

One of her sons, Sincere, has been a steady part of our lives for years. He lived with us for six months when he was younger. To me, he is a son, and to our children, he is a brother. We have always tried to support both the children and their grandmother whenever possible.

In August, the instability escalated. One night—at 1 a.m. on a school night—Sincere called me in fear, asking to be removed from the home. Despite his distress, the police were required to return him to a place where he did not feel safe. Two weeks ago, one of his sisters was assaulted in the home, and CPS became involved. On December 2, Jennifer filed for emergency temporary custody and was granted it. On December 9, she was awarded full custody of her children.

The Immediate Crisis

When we went to the grandmother’s home to retrieve the children’s belongings (paid for by their father, our family, and others in the community) including:

The grandmother falsely claims that she paid for it all and that she is keeping it all. The kids left with almost nothing. Jennifer does not have the financial resources to suddenly replace clothing, shoes, school supplies, personal items, and basic necessities for multiple children, all at once.

Jennifer is not asking for a handout—she is asking for help.

She works full-time and has held the same job for years. Her home is clean, stable, and nurturing. Nutritious, budget-friendly, home-cooked meals are always on the table every night. Her children excel academically

She is proactive, loving, and deeply invested in raising children who will surpass her circumstances and positively contribute to society.
