*April 3 Update*
Hey everyone, Trent and Megan here.
- First, we wanted to say thank you so much to all of our friends and family, new and old, who have contributed to this dream of ours. We’re hoping that it can be a dream you enter into as well. Every dollar counts, and we hope this will be a source of inspiration, education, and retreat for years to come.
- Second, speaking of the donations we are overwhelmed by an anonymous donor who gave nearly half of our goal, and so
- you’ll notice the goal has shifted from 20k to 13k - which also means every one of your gifts is an even greater piece of the overall goal now. Thank you again.
- Third, we wanted to share an update so see the attached photos. The slab is poured and that is over half of the project so we are well underway on the entire thing and are excited to share more updates as they come in.
- Lastly, some of you might be wondering: “why a kiln?” or “what goal is this connected to?”. If you have time, check out visitrockyridge.com to see our promo video, but TLDR is that we want to use our home, our orchard, our garden, our kiln, and the surrounding areas to invite people to reconnect with themselves and a life built with their hands. I (Trent) have a long history as an artist and have taught for many years as a professor on the subject along with two Master’s Degrees.
We hope if this inspires you, that you can share it with friends and family and be a part of the ground floor of this adventure.
-----------
As a part of launching our new project (Rocky Ridge Ranch) I am beginning with an initiative to build a kiln at the ranch. This kiln will be the catalyst for much of the initial art, training, and classes alongside the ecology and wild living we will promote at Rocky Ridge.
Much of the cost is being absorbed by materials Trent already has on hand and through many generous hands, but to make this a viable project that hopes to serve artists, the local communities, and those who desire to reconnect with a simpler life, we hope you'll support.
$15,700 - Concrete Slab
$2500 - build labor support
$3000 - kiln shelves
$2000 - additional material
