My sister Jamie has dedicated her professional life to teaching and helping young children learn and grow. She has taught kindergartners for 20 years and is dedicated to helping kids become their best selves.
Currently, Jamie has experienced a devastating loss following Hurricane Helene. She lived in the small bayside community of Gulfport, Florida…until Thursday when the storm surge overtook her rental home and most of her belongings. She was left with a box of photos, a few trinkets, and some clothing. Jamie is currently staying with her close friend and is in need of many household items to begin rebuilding a home. She also lost an important medical device, her CPAP machine, which is necessary for her to sleep and be productive for work. A replacement machine costs upwards of $3,000. I am organizing this fundraiser to help Jamie eventually replace furnishings, electronics, small appliances, a washing machine and a dryer, bedding, personal hygiene products, and her much-needed CPAP machine.
I was so touched today when Jamie sent me a video and pictures of all that was destroyed and lost during the flood at her home. I asked her if she was okay. I knew she had lost so much, including pictures and special personal items. She said, “Yes, I’m sad but I will be okay. It’s only things.”
Please consider contributing whatever you can to help Jamie move forward from her loss and continue working and being productive.
